On Friday students from 14 schools across the Southeast joined us at Weaver Labs to check-in and head off to one of many industry tours. The industry tour options included: Cotton Inc., Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center on Centennial Campus, Caterpillar, Precision Hawk, and Stormwater Engineering with our own Dr. Bill Hunt.
Later that evening all schools joined back together to enjoy NC Style BBQ under the pavilion while we had guest speakers Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Richard Linton, and Dean of College of Engineering, Dr. Louis Martin-Vega share a little more about what makes NC State stand out. Lastly, each student section of ASABE presented what their chapter has been a part of over the past year.
Saturday morning, everyone joined at Hunt Library on Centennial for guest speakers and panelist Q&A’s on anything from current NC agriculture to applying for graduate school. Joining back at Weaver students enjoyed lunch together and then head inside for lab tours and a ASABE specific career fair right in our own hallways.
Finally, to finish off a great weekend everyone met at the NC Science Museum for a special dinner with guest speaker Sepideh Saidi who spoke about her path to becoming a successful minority, woman engineer and entrepreneur.
